Kitchen Background TaW#7

I'll being doing 8 sample backgrounds for a children's show. This is number one and I'll be counting them as part of my TaW schedule. I think this came out awesome and looking forward to trying out different whimsical palettes. Very excited. Also this weekend, me and Jay went to see Peter Giser's play (directed and produced). The play is called "Out of Order" by Ray Cooney and it's a British comedy. It's playing now at The 45th Street Theatre (NYC) on 2/25 & 2/26 and starts at 8:30PM. This week was crowded, so get your tickets in advance if you can. The actors are so well rehearsed you get sucked into the story fast and forget everything else. You'll come out of the theater with your face hurting all over from laughter. The stage background design really caught me too versus what I have seen in the past on off off broadway shows. And I'm not just saying this because Peter is a friend and let me feed his rabbits Roger and Carl. ^.^ Just an added bonus.

You can purchase tickets here:

I'll also be updating and showing progress on my new paintings soon (probably both on flickr and here).

Valentine Weekend Madness

So starting on Friday, me and Jason were invited to this awesome friend's (Justin) event ( a Rock Band Party) at his place in brooklyn to mingle with fellow RISD alumni and animators (and of course play some Guitar Hero). Everyone was cool and had a blast. I totally think I'm lame at these kind of games but Justin was seriously hitting that drum set. He was so focused. On Saturday night, Kaliptus (another friend of mine) organized a gallery exhibit at The Wild Project in NYC called "Tryptophantasia" where artists showcased their psychedelic animations and videos.

You can check it out here:

A few I recognized from SVA, but they were all beautiful, creative and outside the box from what you usually see out there. He will be doing another show I believe sometime in April. I suggest friending Kaliptus on facebook so you won't miss the update. This Tuesday (due to the snow day last week had to be rescheduled) will be another Drink & Draw event. Another chance to mingle with artist and animators, so don't miss it if you're in town.

Valentine Thing a Week # 6

Really digging Rogue Wave's "Good Morning Future". Really Cool weekend. Lots of parties and awesome galleries. Will update later this week on that. In the spirit of this day, I drew my husband since he did the bare requirement of buying dead plant genitals for me. Happy dead plant genitals and old candy hearts Day, everybody!

New "Thing a Week" #5 - Moon Elf Priestess

Kinda late posting I know since I usually update on Tuesdays (but I have an excuse - I was sick and it was my husband's birthday). I'm rushing at this point to finish the oil painting and have it finally posted. After that, I have no idea what to do next with it. Still trying to figure out what the next piece will be. The huge canvas is still sitting there glaring at me. I had a few more interviews this week for video game companies to intern as a mo-cap animator. See how that goes. I never knew oil painting could take so long. I remember it being quite fast in the past. It might be just with this piece. No new ideas on that movie I was suppose to write out quick. I got actors though on stand-by which is amazing. And an invisible camera provided by a friend of my sister's. If that falls through I'm already considering LAYAWAY on one that's $3k. Wow. My own video camera. Sweet. Storyboards will be the next step to rough out how the shots and scenery will be like. Debating if I want latex monsters or just to CG it since we got the equipment to do it. I think it would be cool if we kicked it old school. Oh, yea and the sketch I just posted... it's something I did at The Met in the Egyptian temple section. Thinking about digitally painting it in photoshop or corel.
